Principal

Mrs. Elisa Morrissey

emorrissey@dallasisd.org

Mrs. Elisa Morrissey was born in Brownsville, TX and raised in Port Isabel where she grew up around shrimp boats as both her parents were shrimpers and first-generation immigrants. She received her Bachelor's degree from Texas State University and Master’s degree from Southern Methodist University where she graduated at the top of her class and was honored to speak at commencement in 2010.

She has been an educator for 22 years in Dallas ISD where she has served in several capacities. Mrs. Morrissey has served as a kindergarten, second, fourth and fifth grade two way dual language and general education teacher. Additionally, she has served as a reading instructional coach leading and guiding teachers in various professional developments.

She was named Dallas ISD's Teacher of the Year in 2018 and values a strong commitment to student achievement with high expectations, inspiring relationships and a growth mindset. Her most recent transformational leadership position as an assistant principal was at George W. Truett Elementary where the campus went from a D rated campus to a B. She believes that strong collaboration and trust with all stakeholders are key factors to success.

When she is not working, you will find her spending time with her two children and husband at soccer games, and she loves watching the Dallas Stars and Mavericks. She also enjoys reading and jogging around her East Dallas neighborhood.

Mrs. Morrissey is a strong believer in having true grit and passion.  With hard work and determination, she achieved the goal of higher education and tries to instill that in her students daily. Believing that students can grow and achieve despite socioeconomic status is what drives Mrs. Morrissey to be an advocate for equity and excellence for all students.
